About the platform
Men's health information. Considered.
Brelvan exists to provide evidence-informed, accessible health information for men in the UK.

An independent reading room
Brelvan Health Ltd publishes an independent informational resource from 22 Bold Street, Liverpool. Our editorial team with a background in health communication works across nutrition, sleep, gut wellness and immune health for men. The publication began as a small notebook of research summaries and grew into a structured set of long-form guides, each reviewed before publication for tone, sourcing and clarity.
We do not sell products, run consultations or offer personalised recommendations. Instead, we explain ideas, define terms and point readers towards appropriate professional conversations when a personal question needs more than general information. Every article carries a publication date, an author line and a plain description of its scope, so a reader can judge quickly whether the piece answers the question they actually have.
How we work
Our editorial approach
Plain language
Technical subjects are introduced with clear definitions and a careful distinction between an observation and a conclusion. We avoid jargon unless a term is defined in the same paragraph, and we link back to a short glossary wherever a word might be unfamiliar to a general reader.
Proportion
We avoid dramatic framing. A useful article should leave room for uncertainty, personal variation and ordinary daily life, rather than compressing a wide body of research into a single headline claim about what a reader should do next.
Transparency
Our pages show their dates, authorship and boundaries so readers can understand what an article can and cannot offer. Where a study is small, short or observational, we say so directly instead of letting the wording imply a stronger result than the evidence supports.
Setting expectations
What Brelvan is, and what it is not
Readers sometimes ask whether an editorial health website can replace a conversation with a GP. It cannot, and the table below sets out the boundary as plainly as we can put it.
| Brelvan does | Brelvan does not do |
|---|---|
| Summarise published research in plain English | Assess a personal condition or symptom |
| Define technical terms readers may meet elsewhere | Recommend a specific product, brand or dose |
| Explain how a study was designed and what it can show | Replace a conversation with a GP or qualified professional |
| Date, author and review each article we publish | Sell supplements, treatments or consultations |
Process
How each article is put together
The steps below describe our general editorial process. It is not a formal certification scheme, but it reflects the checks we try to apply consistently across every guide we publish.
- A topic is chosen from within our stated subject areas — immune health, nutrition, sleep and gut wellness for men in the UK.
- Publicly available research and public health guidance are reviewed, with attention to study design, sample size and population.
- A first draft is written in plain language, avoiding stop-word claims and unverifiable superlatives.
- The draft is checked against our disclaimer and editorial standards before a publication date is set.
- The article is reviewed periodically and may be updated if the underlying research context changes materially.
From the editorial desk
"Our aim is not to tell a reader what to do. It is to make the underlying research a little easier to read, so that a conversation with a GP or another qualified professional starts from a clearer place."
